There have been some significant changes since the last widely distributed version of the software (3.0.9). The most significant changes to the software are:

  1. A poultry litter plan is now its own plan type. The format for the poultry litter plan is based on the poultry litter plan format developed by the 1217 Interagency Guidance committee for NPDES facilities, but it is intended to be appropriate for any Poultry Litter Nutrient Management plan. The format is similar to the fertilizer-only plan format. It is now more general and is designed to provide more flexibility to the producer.
  2. The plan only asks for information on the type of litter producer, number of birds, the fields to be included in the plan and the crops that the producer intends to grow. It does not require information regarding specific crop rotations, unless a particular field has a High PLAT rating. In that case, the producer will have to identify a specific crop or rotation in order to determine the amount of P2O5 that may be applied without exceeding the P2O5 removal rate of the crop or rotation.
  3. A plan for the first year is generated by identifying Year 1 crops on the Recommendations plan screen. The crops planted in year 1 will be used to estimate the quantity of nutrients that can be utilized in the first year of the plan. This result will be shown on the Sources in Plan page of the Nutrient Management Plan.
  4. Once the producer is provided a copy of the plan. He/She will be able to generate an annual application plan using their actual waste analysis and Table A (RYE Nitrogen Rates and Phosphorous Removal) from the Nutrient Management Plan. If the plan includes any fields with High PLAT ratings, Table B (Planned Crop Rotations – High PLAT Fields) will also be used. A worksheet for developing the annual application plan can be printed for the producer by clicking on Forms from the main nutrient management screen and then selecting Annual Litter Application. There is a separate worksheet for Nitrogen Based Fields and for High PLAT rated fields. There is also an EXCEL spreadsheet included entitled Litter Application Plan.xls This spreadsheet is automatically copied to your Nutrient Management folder. If the producer wants to use the EXCEL spreadsheet to generate their annual application plan, you may provide them a copy of the spreadsheet.
  5. If the technical specialists wishes to generate the annual application plan for the producer, you can select Litter from the main Nutrient Management screen to generate an annual application plan based on the producers Nutrient Management Plan and actual waste analysis.
  6. For specific instructions on developing a Poultry Litter Nutrient Management plan, please do the following:
