Decentralized Water and Wastewater Reuse Workshop Overview

More than 70 wastewater and development professionals attended the First "Decentralized Water/Wastewater Reuse for Clean, Green and Smart Development in Rural and Urban Communities" Workshop in Nags Head, NC.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at NC State University, along with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, organized the conference. A substantial number of new technologies have come into the water and wastewater marketplace in the past 15-20 years, including decentralized water and wastewater reuse systems.

In this three-day workshop, community leaders, health officials, soil scientists, engineers, and governmental decision makers from throughout the state and country learn how to select decentralized water/wastewater reuse options and understand their management requirements.

Topics presented at the conference advance science and technologies which can improve the water and wastewater systems used throughout the world, especially improvements in the science of "re-using" treated wastewater for positive uses that enhance our environment in cities, towns as well as rural and urban areas alike.

This workshop includes both lectures from some of the most noted national and international experts sharing their knowledge and insights on reuse in addition to visiting existing water-wastewater reuse facilities on the Outer Banks to see first-hand these new technologies in action and learn from local experts too.

Conference faculty includes some of the most noted professionals in the field of decentralized water and wastewater reuse technologies that can be distributed throughout communities.
