Walnut Creek Oral History ProjectEmma Clark Dorssett

Mrs. Dorssett

Emma Clark Dorssett has lived in the Walnut Creek area for nearly 41 years. She was born in Catawba County, North Carolina on June 26, 1938. Currently, she lives in Biltmore Hills and has three grown children. Mrs. Dorssett came from a family of nine. She is the oldest of five sisters, and the second oldest in the family. After graduating from Shaw University she became a school counselor. Living by the wetlands for many years, Mrs. Dorssett has seen it change for the good and change for the worse over time. Mrs. Dorssett has an interesting perspective on what wetlands really mean to the world and all its living creatures. Mrs. Dorssett believes that when the Walnut Creek Education Center comes to State Street, awareness will spread and it will impact the area in a positive way.
