Innovative and New Management Practices
Aerobic (with oxygen) lagoons tends to have more complete treatment than anaerobic treatment and the end products are relatively odorless.
Aerators are used mainly to control odors in sensitive areas and nitrogen removal where land available for manure application is limited.
Aerobic lagoons produce more sludge than anaerobic lagoons because more of the manure is converted to microbial biomass.
