SSC 427 Biological Approaches to Sustainable Soil Systems
Fall semester of every year

Course Location: On Campus

Objective:
Ecological and biochemical concepts will be applied to managing soils in agro-ecological settings such as organic and conventionally managed farms and gardens, emphasizing micobial transformations of nutrients and plant residues.

Prerequisite:
SSC 200, BIO 181 and 183, and CH 101

Grading:
Three exams, problem sets, in-class presentation, and comprehensive final exam
